I had the privilege of participating in a transformative mural workshop led by the renowned Chilean artist Alejandro “Mono” González. Known for his immense contributions to public art and muralism, González has spent decades using art as a tool for social change and cultural expression. His murals, often vibrant and deeply symbolic, can be found throughout Chile and beyond, reflecting themes of community, identity, and resistance.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Neruda Arts, the Button Factory Art Gallery, and especially Isabel Cisterna for organizing this incredible event. Their dedication to fostering artistic exchange and collaboration made it possible to meet and work alongside such an influential figure in the world of muralism.

Throughout the workshop, González shared invaluable insights into his creative process, emphasizing the importance of collective storytelling and community engagement in mural art. His passion for social justice and his commitment to empowering communities through art were truly inspiring. Together, we created a piece that not only reflects our shared experiences but also pays homage to the rich tradition of muralism as a voice for the people.
Here are some photos capturing moments from the workshop and the mural we brought to life.
